So I had a bit of a realisation recently, which is that one of the reasons I have trouble forming habits is that they get interrupted when I go into deep focus. For example, in my goal of coming up with an idea every day I hit a really fun one that I couldn't resist working on more, and between working on the idea and the computer game "Lorelei and the Laser Eyes" the weekend blew past with no new ideas in the blog - though I did record several day's worth in my physical diary (which is easier to get out late at night, and which was the inspiration for doing the ideas in the first place).
So the idea started as a puzzle game idea, which was to do some kind of varient on the "All Fours" puzzle where you have a variety of numbers and operators and you have to use them all to get to various answers. I was thinking it would be interesting to do a varient on that which somehow drew pictures, and that led to me designing an esoteric shader programming language. And now I'm working on an implementation.
So yeah, part of the fun of coming up with ideas is following through on them and getting obsessed and single-minded about it.
